a school system on the move

Welcome to the Gloucester Public Schools’ web site. This web site is a work in progress. It is being created through a collaborative effort that includes district office and school staff, as well as parents and volunteers.

Our aim is to provide parents, staff, students, families, the citizens of Gloucester, and others who may be interested in our schools with useful and current information.

We serve approximately 4,000 students Pre-K through 12 in a Pre-School, six elementary schools, one middle school and one comprehensive high school.

Our mission is for all our students to be successful, engaged, life-long learners.

We expect to achieve that through a school system that engages in an active partnership with families and the community, is proactive in honoring diversity and meets the academic, physical, social, and emotional developmental needs of all our students.

The School Committee expects that students will experience a curriculum that is aligned to the state curriculum frameworks, and is broad, balanced, rigorous, differentiated in that it is developmentally appropriate, and relevant to the lives of students and that of the community.

The principles and values that underpin the work of the Gloucester Public Schools may be accessed by clicking on this link.

Links to important recent policy documents and information papers may also be reached using links from this page.

Navigating and Using the Site

Please use links at left to navigate, and note related events, pages, and documents at right. Related items change dynamically with each page, so please be sure to "look right."

To view documents and forms in the Document Manager, be sure to have a copy of Adobe Reader installed on your computer.

Volunteers Needed

If you wish to help your child's school build a better website, please contact the principal, who will coordinate volunteer help for his or her building. Technical expertise is not required, and the basics can be taught in one 30 minute training session.

If you are not a parent, but wish to volunteer, please contact gbach@gloucester.k12.ma.us at the District Office.
